While the NFL schedule is starting to heat up as it reaches the midway point, the college hoops season is getting underway and that means it’s time to start thinking about Final Four picks. Here are four teams to get you started.
North Carolina (+325): The Tar Heels are No.1 in preseason polls with five returning starters, four possible first-round picks (and two lottery picks) and a potential Player of the Year in Harrison Barnes. They also have some talented freshmen to come off the bench, and there is no reason why the Tar Heels can’t win it all this season.
Kentucky (+425): The Wildcats are next in your pay per head sportsbook, and even though they lost a lineup of freshmen to the first round of the draft, John Calipari ensures the cupboard is never bare as Marquis Teague and Anthony Davis headline a stellar class. But can these Wildcats shoot from the outside? This has hurt them in their last two Tournament exits.
Vanderbilt (+2200): Jeff Taylor and John Jenkins will make sure that the Commodores can score, but big man Festus Ezeli may be the one who decides how far Vandy goes. He is suspended for the first six games, but Ezeli gives the Commodores a legitimate threat inside at both ends.
Baylor (+3200): Quincy Acy and Perry Jones will get a bigger chance to show what they can do with LaceDarius Dunn heading out the door, and Jones is a potential Player of the Year, even after missing the first five games of the year. If Jones explodes, look for Baylor to climb up the ladder at sports betting sites.
