Belmont Stakes Preview

With less than two weeks to go until the 2011 Belmont Stakes betting lines close, the field for this year’s race is slowly beginning to take shape. For the first time in nearly six years, Belmont betting enthusiasts will have the opportunity to watch both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stake’s winner’s use Belmont Park as a rubber match. Here is a preview of the race.

It was just over 10 days ago, that Animal Kingdom came from dead last to move to second and narrowly lose the Preakness Stakes to rival Shackleford. With its narrow defeat, Animal Kingdom failed to become the first horse since Big Brown in 2008 to win both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes. Regardless of the loss at Pimlico Race Course 10 days ago, Animal Kingdom trainer Graham Motion confirmed late last week that his colt would try to go two for three in its Triple Crown year by entering the Belmont Stakes.

Known as the most grueling of the three stages, Belmont Park was built for horses like Animal Kingdom. Essentially, inheriting its stamina from its damsire Dalicia, Animal Kingdom has been able to cover long distances on multiple occasions. In fact, some can argue, that the Kentucky Derby champion only lost the Preakness Stakes, because the track at Pimlico was too short. At four to one odds, betting on Animal Kingdom now can still allow you to turn a profit on race day.

Conversely, the other horse everyone will have their eyes on, is Preakness Stake’s winner Shackleford. Considered by many analysts to be the best all around speed horse racing this year, Shackleford has led for the majority of both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes. There is no betonline com scam -- in the Kentucky Derby, Shackleford led from the start, and burned out in the final stretch before finishing a disappointing fourth, three lengths back of Animal Kingdom. However, at the Preakness Stakes 10 days ago, Shackleford led from wire to wire and never looked back once, as it cruised to victory. At Belmont Park in less than two weeks, if Shackleford can jump out to an early lead and maintain its pace, it should be able to win the Belmont Stakes

Preakness Stakes Prediction

Preakness StakesThe 2011 Preakness betting lines are set to close in a few days, as the 136th edition of the Triple Crown's second stage is set to run this coming Saturday. Similar to the Kentucky Derby sports betting race of two weeks ago, the Preakness Stakes field is wide open. For the reason that this is one of the least attractive three year old fields, we could very well see a Triple Crown winner. Here is our prediction of the horses that will fair the best in this weekend's race.

After winning the Kentucky Derby as a long shot at 30 to one odds, Animal Kingdom enters the Preakness Stakes as the odds on favorite to win. Born and raised in Maryland roughly 60 miles away from Pimlico Racecourse, Animal Kingdom could become the first horse to win the Triple Crown in nearly 33 years.

Heading into this weekend's race, Animal Kingdom now ridden by jockey John Velazquez has seen its odds rise dramatically as the horse is now a four to one favorite to win the race. These odds are more the result of winning the Kentucky Derby as opposed to the horse's home being close to Pimlico Racecourse. On paper, because this year's field has been wide open ever since prep race season started back in the beginning of March, more and more handicappers believe that the horse to win the Kentucky Derby can win all three stages of the Triple Crown.

However, in our opinion, Animal Kingdom should be able to at the very least win the first two stages of the Triple Crown. Historically speaking, Pimlico Racecourse has been known as a favorable track for turf bred horses. Considering that Animal Kingdom was sired by Leroidesanimaux, a legendary turf horse, we like Animal Kingdom to win the Preakness Stakes.

Kentucky Derby Prediction

Kentucky DerbyThe 2011 Kentucky Derby betting race is set to be run this coming Saturday May 7, 2011. In the weeks leading up to the race, we have received many complaints from our colleagues online betting for Kentucky Derby, as this year's field has been the toughest to predict a winner from. Today for all intents and purposes, we will be predictions on a couple of horses we feel have a shot at winning the Kentucky Derby.

Dialed In - With contenders The Factor and To Honor And Serve pulling out due to injury, Dialed In is likely to be the favorite at this year's Kentucky Derby. Thus far in his career, Dialed In has only raced four times, which to most hardcore handicappers is too small of a sample size to really gage what type of talent the horse has. However, in those four races, Dialed In won three and lost one race, finishing in second. The two biggest wins of Dialed In's career thus far, came at the Holy Bull Stakes Grade III race at the end of January, when it came from dead last to win the race. Then more recently, Dialed In was able to cruise to victory at the Florida Derby. Historically speaking, the horse that wins the Florida Derby has had much success at the Kentucky Derby, as past winners Barbaro and Big Brown won two legs each of the Triple Crown.

Uncle Mo - Prior to the Wood Memorial Grade I Stakes race, Uncle Mo, the Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner was considered a heavy favorite to win the Kentucky Derby. Yet at the Wood Memorial, disaster would strike, as a stomach virus, would force Uncle Mo, whom led the entire race, to drop all the way down to third entering the final turn. If the stomach issues are resolved by post time on Saturday, expect Uncle Mo to be in the mix for the win.
