Belmont Stakes Preview
It was just over 10 days ago, that Animal Kingdom came from dead last to move to second and narrowly lose the Preakness Stakes to rival Shackleford. With its narrow defeat, Animal Kingdom failed to become the first horse since Big Brown in 2008 to win both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes. Regardless of the loss at Pimlico Race Course 10 days ago, Animal Kingdom trainer Graham Motion confirmed late last week that his colt would try to go two for three in its Triple Crown year by entering the Belmont Stakes. Known as the most grueling of the three stages, Belmont Park was built for horses like Animal Kingdom. Essentially, inheriting its stamina from its damsire Dalicia, Animal Kingdom has been able to cover long distances on multiple occasions. In fact, some can argue, that the Kentucky Derby champion only lost the Preakness Stakes, because the track at Pimlico was too short. At four to one odds, betting on Animal Kingdom now can still allow you to turn a profit on race day. Conversely, the other horse everyone will have their eyes on, is Preakness Stake’s winner Shackleford. Considered by many analysts to be the best all around speed horse racing this year, Shackleford has led for the majority of both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes. There is no betonline com scam -- in the Kentucky Derby, Shackleford led from the start, and burned out in the final stretch before finishing a disappointing fourth, three lengths back of Animal Kingdom. However, at the Preakness Stakes 10 days ago, Shackleford led from wire to wire and never looked back once, as it cruised to victory. At Belmont Park in less than two weeks, if Shackleford can jump out to an early lead and maintain its pace, it should be able to win the Belmont Stakes |
